About RoWAN

RoWAN (Ross-shire Waste Action Network) is a community group which aims to involve a wide range of local people and organisations in improving waste management in Ross-shire.  This is achieved by:

• raising awareness of the waste issue
• providing practical support to households and communities to reduce waste
• promoting more sustainable waste management
• working closely with other like-minded organisations
• documenting and promoting project experience, to allow other communities to build upon successes and lessons learned
• researching good practice elsewhere

Established in April 2001 by a group of like minded individuals, RoWAN's first activities involved distributing 2000 compost bins to the Ross-shire public! Following this Rowan set up the Waste-Free Households Project and is currently running the Waste-Free RCV Project
