Storage & compost bins

Other RoWAN offers have included free household storage bins and reduced price Green Cones and Green Johannas.  Unfortunately, due to high demand, these offers have now come to an end, other than for householders on the RCV project route.

Green cones look rather like a small cone shaped compost bin, but take kitchen waste only, including cooked food, dairy produce, bread, meat and fish.  Garden waste goes in a normal composter.  A large basket is installed below ground level, under a small cone.  The waste is reduced to a liquid which seeps into the soil.  There is a small residue, and no compost is produced.  Price guide: £70.00 (RoWAN offer £5 to RCV householders)

Green Johannas look similar to a normal composter, but take both kitchen and garden waste, including cooked food, dairy produce, bread, meat and fish.  The unit is designed to ensure the compost gets hotter than a normal compost bin, has good ventilation, is designed to exclude rodents and will produce usable compost. Compost bins are now available all year round at hugely discounted rates through the national Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) scheme. There are four types on offer, ranging in price from £6 to £25, as well as kitchen caddies, caddy liners and other accessories.  The 330 litre size bin is £8.  Delivery approx 28 days.
